Career days built around real work

Most career days are a gym full of tables. I want ones where a student leaves with something real: a clearer idea of what fits them, and a question answered by someone who does the job.

What I am designing

Four formats

Each one is built on tools that already exist on this site: the free career quiz, the career library with Ontario pay, and the trades hub. None is scheduled yet. Tell me which you would come to.

  • A career day for a school or group

Students take the career quiz, see what it points to, then hear from people who actually do those jobs and get to ask the questions that matter. Built for a class, a grade or a community group. For: Schools, youth groups, libraries
  • A skilled trades try-it workshop

A short, hands-on introduction to what the trades are really like, for teens and adults curious about an apprenticeship. It needs tradespeople to teach it, and none are confirmed yet. For: Students, adults changing direction
  • A parent and teen career workshop

A parent and a teenager do the same exercises side by side, then compare what each noticed. The conversation afterwards is the point. For: Families
  • An employer-hosted morning

A workplace opens its doors for a small group: what the jobs involve, what the day looks like, and how people got there. For: Employers who want to meet future staff

How a day would run

The same four steps

Whatever the format, this is the spine.

  1. Find out what fits

Everyone takes the career quiz and gets a personal result. Nothing about it is sent to us unless an adult chooses to.
  2. See the real jobs

Each result opens into the career library: what the work is like, who hates it, what it pays in Ontario, and the route in.
  3. Meet someone who does it

People who work in the field answer questions. For trades, that means actual tradespeople, not a recruiter.
  4. Leave with a next step

One thing to try this week, and where to go for the next one.

Schools can already book me

Launch League already runs paid entrepreneurship workshops and SHSM ICE days in Ontario schools. The classroom materials stay free. A career day would sit alongside these.

Interest list

Want one for your school, group or workplace?

Tell me who you are and what you would use. I will write to you when a format has a date and a price. Joining is not a booking and not a promise that one will run.

Who can join

Teachers, school staff, parents, community groups, employers and tradespeople. Adults only: we never collect a young person's name or email on a public form.

Keep me posted about career days

For adults 18 and over. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian or a teacher to sign up.

No career-day dates, prices, venues or partner employers have been set, so none appears here. When they exist, this page will say so and link to the booking.
