Serve First
Use what you're building to help someone else.
Serve First is the part of Launch League that points what people are learning and building back at the community around them. Service isn't a side project bolted onto business. It's what business is for: making something better for other people.

Nominate someone
Every project below is running right now in the Chatham area, with a local crew doing the work. Nominating someone takes a few minutes, and self-nominations are welcome.

- Rolling, all yearAll yearNominate a NeighbourA yard that got away from someone, put right.Know a yard in the Chatham area that has got away from the person living there — after an illness, a loss, a storm, or a stretch where life got hard? Put their name forward. Nominations are read as they come in, all year.Nominate someone
The work is done by Launch League volunteers — our own people, students and community volunteers. Launch League organizes it and covers the cost. A nomination usually contains someone else's name, address and situation. We keep it inside Launch League and share it only with the crew doing the work. Nothing is published, and a story is only told if the person says yes.
Why this sits next to a business program
Service is part of leadership
Business is making something better for other people.
- Students learn that an offer is only worth something if it helps somebody. Serving makes that concrete.
- A business owner who shows up for a neighbour builds the kind of reputation no advertising buys.
- The people we ask to judge, mentor and sponsor are already doing this. Serve First just makes it visible.
If you're a student looking for the 40 hours of community involvement you need to graduate, read what actually countsfirst — most of what Launch League does doesn't, and we'd rather tell you that than have you find out in Grade 12.
Being planned
What comes next
These are in development, starting October. No dates yet, and we won't pretend otherwise. Tell us what your community needs and we'll build the first ones around that.
- Student service projects run with a class
- Business volunteer days
- Community clean-up and build projects
- Whatever a community tells us it actually needs
