BMX3EMarketing: Retail and Service

Strong fit

Service businesses are where most students start. The service business challenge has students run one small service for real customers, with the selling, service and repeat business the course is about.

Already teaching it your way? If students already run a class store or service, use the challenge for the service promise and the follow-up, and skip the parts you already cover.

What Launch League doesn't do: Launch League doesn't cover retail operations or merchandising.

Course title and description from the Ontario curriculum (Grades 11 and 12 Business Studies, 2006). Launch League can support learning in this course; it doesn't deliver course expectations or grant credit, and the teacher decides what counts and how it's assessed.

Suggested approach

How to use it with BMX3E

Suggested starting point: run the full program. You can use it any way that works for your class.

  1. Open the lesson plans

Start with Everything for Monday: minute-by-minute plans and slides.
  2. Create a class

Request teacher access and create a class at Your classes. Students join with a six-letter code.
  3. Run the classes

Six core classes take students from a problem to a pitch. Use the extensions your course needs.
  4. Ask for real-world support

Mentors, judges, a pitch workshop or a local entrepreneur — send a request.
  5. Enter, if students want to

The provincial competition is optional and free, and every complete entry gets written feedback.

After the unit

Students can keep going

The assignment can end without the business ending. Students can validate it, sell it, launch it and compete on their own, without a teacher managing any of it.
